Located along the shores of the French Riviera, Nice offers all the secrets and beauty of the Côte d'Azur. Throughout history, famous writers including Balzac, Montagne, Dumas, Flaubert and Baudelaire have been captivated by the charm of the city and magnificent coastal views. The excellent local and regional public transportation system makes it easy to visit all the sights in and around Nice. Plus, the high-speed TGV trains provide daily service to and from Paris in about 4 hours. Spend an afternoon exploring the open-air markets in La Vieille Ville, strolling down the pebble beaches, or visiting a picturesque village nestled on the Corniche hillside, and you will see for yourself how Nice got its reputation as a jewel of the south.

The program is open to students from around the world and includes 15 hours of instruction per week. The faculty is made up of native French professors experienced in teaching French as a Second Language. All classes are taught in French. Class size varies from 8-12 students. Groups are set up by levels (Beginner to Advanced), determined by proficiency tests given the first day of each session. Classes are held Tuesday-Friday from 8:45am to 12:30pm at an accredited language institute conveniently located in the city center, within walking distance to just about everything. Monday mornings are reserved for final registration and placement exams.
The school is equipped with a resource library, audio/video laboratory, computer lab, and a student lounge with vending machines. Internet access is available at the school or in local cyber cafes. Course certificates are awarded upon successful completion of each program and must be requested directly from the admissions office in France. Official transcripts are processed by the host institution through the FAE office. Students must submit a Credit Transfer Request Form to the FAE office in Virginia to receive a transcript. One transcript is provided at no cost to each student. A fee of $20 is charged for each additional transcript. A weekly schedule of activities is available from the institute at final registration in France. Additional services, excursions and local information are available through the Office du Tourisme in town.

A weekly schedule of activities and excursions is arranged by the institute. These activities require an extra fee. Students sign up for the activities of their choice once in France. Ask for a complete list of options at final registration. In addition to the activities and excursions organized by the institute, the Office du Tourisme offers a wide selection of guided tours and events. The options may range from a guided visit of the Russian Church, the Vieille Ville or the hilltop Chateau - to a bus tour to one of the picturesque villages perched on top of the Corniche mountain overlooking the deep blue sea of the Mediterranean [we recommend Eze and St Paul de Vence!]. Wherever your passion lies, you will find just the right place in and around Nice to make your Summer Study Abroad Program an experience you will want to repeat!
